Honor the Name of the Lord

DAY 40
10-29-09
LEVITICUS 22-23

Good Morning!

Have you ever wondered what happens when we do not live as God wants us to? Does something actually happen when we offer God our left over gifts; no gifts at all; or if we don’t keep his commands?

I hope no believer will fall into the trap of Satan by believing that God does not care about these matters. You can’t read Leviticus with seeing how God feels about the holiness of his name. The fourth commandment (Exodus 20:7) reads, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.”

God expounds on the fourth commandment in the instructions in Leviticus. In Lev. 22:2 & 32, God reveals (again) his command to respect his name with how we act; our motives; and in the way we approach him. The LORD says, “Do not bring shame on my holy name.” When we do not honor God, we dishonor his holy name.

God’s wonderful grace and his new covenant with us don’t take away the eternal principle of honoring the Name of the Lord in all we do.
