DAY 29
10-18-09
EXODUS 35-36-37
Good Morning!
All my life I have been taught that giving is a joy. I was taught wonderful Bible lessons about the widow who put her last penny in the gift box; and about giving joyfully from the heart. I was particularly touched by the generosity of the Macedonian Christians who gave to the poor Judean church even though they were poor themselves.
After today’s reading I feel compelled to reconsider my giving. Not just the amount but the heart behind it. I don’t give grudgingly. But do I joyfully give? I don’t have to have my check pried from my hand; but do I give with a prayer and joy in my heart? I can’t honestly say I give it that much thought.
Read again Israel’s attitude in giving their treasure to God.
(35:21) Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the Lord.
(Ex 35:29) All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the Lord freewill offerings for all the work the Lord
(Ex 36:5-6) The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done." Then Moses gave an order…"No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary." And so the people were restrained from bringing more…
That is how I want to give. How about you?
