DAY 21
10-10-09
EXODUS 11-12-13
Good Morning!
The promise is kept and Israel is free. God showed his power over the Egyptian gods and Pharaoh. He showed his love for Abraham’s descendents. Moses gathered up Joseph’s bones; the people gathered all their possessions - and the possessions of the Egyptians; and they headed to the desert. Free at last after 430 years.
God passed over the land and killed the first born of everyone in Egypt who was not protected by blood. Don’t miss the forward looking elements of this event. God’s people were saved from death by being covered by blood; and they ate a meal meant to keep God’s salvation fresh in their minds for the rest of their lives.
The lessons are simple. Salvation from death requires the death and the blood of the Lamb of God. Those saved from death must remember what God and the Lamb Jesus did to save them. It is a lasting ordinance. Our children must know the significance if Jesus is to be remembered for all generations.
I beg you to remember. Don’t let the Lord’s Supper only be about a tiny piece of cracker and tiny sip of grape juice. It is all about the Lamb of God and the salvation of God’s children. Don’t forget.
