DAY 22
10-11-09
EXODUS 14-15-16
Good Morning!
Israel’s escape is not going to be easy. When Pharaoh realizes that his slaves are gone he and his army set out after them. Obviously, Israel panics, and faced with certain death they long to be back in Egypt as slaves, safe and sound.
Moses however is full of faith. He knows what can and will be done for them. He tells the people "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." We have an old saying, “Just don’t stand there do something!” Moses gave them opposite command of “Don’t do anything, just stand there.” God will rescue them. There are times when we must stand still and let God do his thing.
Now, as much as Moses is right, God told the people to quit crying and “get moving!” In his power as the Only God, he will save Israel and drown the Egyptians, but Israel must act and move with God. God moves to their rear and protects them. He has their back.
God has their back when the enemy is coming. God has their back when they cross the Red Sea. God has their back when they are hungry. God has their back when they are thirsty. God has their back when they face plagues and diseases. God said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”
God has our back in the same powerful way. If we obey him and move with him as he leads, guides, protects, heals, and feeds, we will reach a better promised land.
