Hear the Word of the Lord!

JEREMIAH 7-10


Good Morning!

My friends, here are some of the most powerful words God has ever spoken that directly apply to his people today. If we ever let our faith in Jesus turn into religion; and live hypocritical lives; and allow fleshly form to take over spiritual substance – God help us!

Jer.7:2-15 says, Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:
• Reform your ways and your actions.
• Do not trust in deceptive words.
• Deal with each other justly; do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood.

Later in the passage, God says, “While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer. Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your fathers.”

WOW! God spoke and called and no one would listen. Imagine that! He says that if they do not change, he is going to judge his people who put their trust in the temple, rather than in him.

Faith in anything or anyone other than the Lord is misplaced and even idolatrous. Jesus died to save us from sin and worthless religion. Our faith and allegiance must be in Christ and in him alone.
