DAY 239
5-28-10
EZEKIEL 33-36
Good Morning!
I don’t get it. We have no problem with telling those we love to watch out; wear your seat belt; be careful; take care of yourself; and go to the doctor. We constantly remind each other of all the things we need to do to be healthy and stay alive.
Yet there seems to be a conspiracy of silence about the most important things – eternal things that are far more important – be faithful; repent; live righteously; and be saved. Obviously it can be a difficult conversation to have. Some don’t want to hear. Strained relationships make it a challenge. But it is a conversation that is vital to have…and have again.
If we are going to listen to the words of The Sovereign Lord through Ezekiel, then we must notice how God makes us responsible for each other. We are not responsible for someone else’s sin, but we are responsible to be a “watchman” and watch out for them. We are responsible to tell them and to warn them.
Ezek 33:7-9 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.”
It is amazing what “speaking the truth in love” can do. Lovingly; firmly; consistently; and urgently tell those you love about what is the most important thing in life. The reason we work so hard to maintain healthy relationships is to open doors of opportunity to tell people we love about Jesus.
