Who is Going to Protect You?

DAY 217
5-16-10
JEREMIAH 15-16

Good Morning!

Have you ever needed a fortress – a strong place in which to hide? I guess an argument can be made that we all need fortresses to protect us from our enemies. However, we need a fortress to protect us from sin. I’m not referring to a monastery; that’s never worked. I’m referring to our strength and fortress – the Lord.

Jer. 16:19 “O Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come...”

The Lord is our protector. He is our hiding place. In him we are safe from Satan and sin. I don’t want to hide from the world; they need the protection of God’s fortress just like I do. We all need the safety and freedom we find in Christ.

There is no safety, security, or freedom from the false gods. Our forefathers tried this and were destroyed. They made their own Gods that could never protect them.

Jer.16:19-20 "…Our fathers possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols that did them no good. Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!”

The answer is for us to teach the world that only the LORD can save us and protect us. God himself said in Jer. 16:21, “Therefore I will teach them - this time I will teach them my power and might. Then they will know that my name is the Lord.

Where are you hiding? Who is going to protect you?

Barry
