Do Not Be Fainthearted

DAY 65
11-23-09
DEUTERONOMY 17-20

Good Morning!

In my life and ministry I have witnessed so much fighting. Not people fighting each other, but people battling illnesses; poverty; depression; sin and temptation; bad economy; marriage struggles; family issues; and discouragement. I have seen strong people fall and weak people stand. Some fight and win. Some fight with no end in sight.

Personally, when I read the Bible, I love to find little gems – a short string of words that have a great message for me. I found one today.

"Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." (Deut. 20:3-4)

Whatever battle you face or are in right now, these words speak to you. They are as true today as they were back then. If God fought for Israel for land, will he not fight for our health or our families? Of course he will.

Just one more bit of evidence that my God loves me.

Barry
