Marching Around In Circles Makes No Sense

DAY 72
11-30-09
JOSHUA 4-6

Good Morning!

What an exciting way to begin the conquest of the Promised Land. God renews his covenant with Israel and has all the men circumcised. God parts the waters of the Jordon River just like he did with the Red Sea. Then Jericho is conquered by God’s power not Israel’s. Notice how God is building faith so that they trust and obey without question. Marching around the city and blowing trumpets makes no sense unless they understand that God’s commands and his plans will not always make sense – but they will always bless those who trust and obey.

God’s will doesn’t always make sense. That fact has been a challenge for mankind from the beginning. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways ," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isa. 55:8-9)

Keep in mind that God’s will for us; his commands; and his word are always true, right, and perfect. God builds faith in us by asking us to trust him and obey him. Marching around a city and shouting may sound silly, but the awesome results are undeniable.

God blesses those who trust and obey.
