DAY 231
5-20-10
EZEKIEL 1-4
Good Morning!
In the darkest places we find ourselves in, God is there. David said, “In the valley of the shadow of death…you are with me” (Psalm 23). Ezekiel was called by God in the darkness of captivity to continue preaching to the rebellious people. He is shown outrageous, glorified images of God and heavenly beings; and given strange requests – like eating the scroll of the word of God.
The prophetic ministry of Ezekiel is going to be very difficult. God does not hide the fact that as usual, most of the revolting people will not listen. Yet, as God’s “Watchman” his task is to warn them to repent. God tells Ezekiel that the one’s who repent, will be saved.
Ezek 3:21 But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning.
I think the greatest lesson in Ezekiel is that no matter who controls Israel, God is really in charge. In the whole book God is called, “Sovereign Lord” 217 times! What does Sovereign mean? God has the “right to rule.” God is always in charge.
No matter how crazy or hard our life gets; no matter if it seems things are out of control; the Sovereign Lord is always rules.
